Seven-Year-Old Boy Allegedly Lynched For Stealing Garri
A seven-year-old boy has allegedly been lynched in the Badagry area of Lagos for stealing garri, according to reports.
Reports and images making the rounds on the social media indicate that the boy was set ablaze after being beaten up.
Although details of the incident are still sketchy, reports making the round have caused outrage with many Nigerians calling for an investigation into the incident and an end to jungle justice.

WhatsApp earlier this year announced they would no longer be supporting BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10 handsets by the end of 2016 but it seems they have changed their mind.
According to an update in the FAQ section of the WhatsApp App it has now been extended to June 2017.

Your Strike, Is Unconstitutional, FG Tells ASUU!
The Federal Government on Tuesday in Abuja asked the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to rescind its decision to embark on a one week warning strike from Nov. 16. noting that it is unconstitutional owing to the prevailing circumstances.
It said, as its employer, the federal government is equally yet to receive any petition from the academic body on their claimed nationwide consultations with it.
Sen. Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Employment who gave the statement urged ASUU to shelve the strike to make room to address contending issues.
Ngige via a statement issued by Mr Samuel Olowokere, Deputy Director of Press in the Ministry, said shelving the strike would ensure wider consultation.
“The claims of nationwide consultations by ASUU cannot be true as the Ministry of Labour and Employment which is the chief conciliator of industrial relations disputes is yet to receive a direct petition from ASUU.
“This is against the Federal Government who is the jurisdictional employer, ‘’ he said.

Has America Elected Their Own Buhari?
The newly elected President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, has things in common with President Muhammadu Buhari. In fact, the US elections produced several interesting parallels between Nigeria and America; one is the divisiveness occasioned by some of the most virulent rhetoric ever traded during a campaign. In the age of social media, it is uncertain the practice of democracy will ever retain any display of civility. In Nigeria last year and in the US this year, I witnessed much bad blood pumped by people who would have to reformat their relationships after the elections. It is interesting how Americans, like Nigerians, also voted “change.” Both also clamoured for an anti-establishment candidate.
Recently, Buhari admitted that after he had been elected, and he saw the depth of rot in Nigeria’s government, he felt like running away. I believe after the initial euphoria of winning, and Trump settles down to work, he will have his own “Buhari Moment” even though he may not be tactless enough to admit it publicly. Buhari’s confession, incidentally, did not elicit much shock from the nation; I guess it was because we are used to his jeremiad. Such admissions only reiterate what we have known by now: he was never quite prepared for the Presidency, he only wanted to be President.
Buhari, shortly after he won the election, panicked and started saying he had no magic wand to correct Nigeria’s problems. To think that only weeks earlier, he had been campaigning like he had one. He became President only to find he had a real job, one he could not do by standing on the sidelines and griping about “corruption” all day. Sometime after, he also claimed he would have been a much better performer if he had age on his side. Trump is another unprepared president who made it this far largely because he had a celebrity reputation that preceded both him or his abilities. I do not think when he declared his interest to run he imagined he would actually win but along the line he successfully keyed into racist, sexist, nativist, and extreme rightist sentiment pervading a section of American demographics. His demagoguery and bigotry might be shocking to folks who expect better of America but it resonated with Americans who fear a white genocide: That liberal ideologies that permit immigrants, terrorism and refugees threaten whiteness.
Trump that has no serious idea how a nation works in the 21st century garnered attention because he ramped up denigrating rhetoric. There are, of course, Americans who genuinely believed in Trump and (naively, I think) assume if he would run the nation like his businesses (at least the ones that succeeded), America may emerge “great” again. There are others who wanted an outsider, someone who does not typify the rot and corruption of Washington. It remains to be seen how that works out for the US; at least it has not worked for Nigeria. Trump will soon realise it takes more than personal charisma, “body language,” braggadocio, and ranting about the incumbent to run a complex society.
I look back at the 2015 elections and still marvel how Buhari’s handlers shielded him from the cerebral aspect of the contest. He shunned debates and his supporters were too enamoured with his mystique to press him for an agenda. He went all over the country with an unrealistic manifesto. The few times he granted an interview, we were alarmed at his moldiness. When he said he would stabilise the oil market and make naira equal to a dollar, it was obvious he was an economic virgin. On the campaign trail, Trump has made equally laughable comments about the economy. During the three debates he had with his opponent, Hillary Clinton, he was out of his depth on any issue and only managed to bluster through.
Some of Trump’s brightest economic ideas have been about protectionism, most of which does not take into account the reality of how trade policies have actually benefited the US. If he tries to execute some of the ideas he has been flaunting for months, he would be shocked how it would backfire. Some of the arguments made for Buhari was also made for Trump – that he would employ hands far more capable than him to help steer the country. From afar, it seems like a feasible idea but a leader with only an elementary knowledge of governance will find himself reeling at the complexity of his job and soon begin to falter. Buhari took almost a year to form a cabinet and when he eventually did, nobody was wowed. Trump, a narcissist, may even be less rigorous and instead build the government around himself just like he did his campaigns.
The fear of what Trump portends, however, is much more than whether he will tank the US economy or not. Trump also happens to be one of the most divisive human beings to run an election in contemporary times. Because he receives support from white nationalists such as the Ku Klux Klan, they will now be emboldened to crawl out of the woodwork and declare an open season of racism. For Muslims, ethnic and racial minorities, women, and the disabled, and all the groups that have been a target for white supremacist vitriol under President Barack Obama, the next four years will be a fight to retain their dignity in Trump’s America. Trump already described himself as the “law and order” candidate and anyone who knows the history of America understands what kind of dog whistle that is. These are interesting times.
We can argue that America has strong democratic institutions but no matter how entrenched the habits of democracy, no system can survive abuses by despots and dictators. Trump boasted that if he won he would tweak current libel laws against the media. A presidential candidate threatening what is tantamount to Decree 4 is almost unthinkable. When a leader says he will toy with mechanisms of checks and balances, and still gets a majority backing, it is only a matter of time before they begin to weaken their supposedly strong institutions. Also, for a man whose “make America great again” slogan was premised on nostalgia of a time when minorities were excluded from national patrimony, I am anxious about acts of violence and oppression this newly empowered majority will wreak on minorities; and which the majority will condone as part of the project of “making America great again”. Under Adolf Hitler’s Germany, that was part of how evil became banal.
For Trump who acts unhinged, and lacks self-control, it also remains to be seen how America will use its instruments of democracy to reel him in. The European philosopher, Slavoj Zizek, said it was better Trump won because it would implode the system and from there something new might emerge. Zizek is a thinker I respect but such Dadaist approach to political philosophy ignores that there are material consequences to democratic choices. Like I told some of my American friends who found the idea of Trump as an anti-establishment revolt tempting, change is not always useful. Nigerians faced a similar dilemma last year and we allowed ourselves to be seduced by the idea that we were voting a man who would pull down the corrupt establishment. Just look at how it has worked for us so far.
Meanwhile, I congratulate Clinton for her valiant efforts. With Trump’s emergence both the Democratic and Republican parties will rethink their disconnect from voters. Clinton worked hard for the presidency and for a country that prides itself on meritocracy, she ought to have won. Anyway, it was not meant to be but I am proud of her for putting up a brave fight

“I’d have to go for Trump,” Eastwood said, four years afterdelivering a Republican National Convention speech to an empty chair. “You know, ’cause [Hillary’s] declared that she’s gonna follow in Obama’s footsteps. There’s been just too much funny business on both sides of the aisle. She’s made a lot of dough out of being a politician.”

Madam Veronica Uloko, a 132 -year-old super-centenarian from Iyamho community, Etsako clan, Edo State, the hometown of the outgoing Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has uncovered the secret of the governor’s uncommon boldness and power.
Curiously, Madam Uloko, who is blind and can no longer walk, wants God to take her life because of the agony she was undergoing over the loss of three of her seven children, especially the 73-year-old son that died in August, this year.
She spoke to Niger Delta Voice, NDV, at Iyamho through her 71-year-old son, Obanor, who served as interpreter during the interview.
Officially, by the Guinness World Records, the oldest living person in the world is 116-year-old Italian, Emman Morano of Verbani in Italy.
Obanor, her son, who said his elder sister is 84 years old, informed us that the death of his elder brother affected the health of their mother, who does not want to live while her children die.
Commenting on Oshiomhole, she said: “Our people in Iyamho are not cowards and they live straight forward life, they do not cheat and they are very bold people and I think that is why God blesses us with long life and wisdom, including Oshiomhole, in Iyamho.”
True to her words, outgoing Governor Oshiomhole, indeed, served the state with exceptional heroism and prudence, mouthing it all the time that he was not a coward and would not be bullied by anybody.
He boasted that he uprooted what he described as entrenched political godfathers in the state because God did not give him spirit of cowardice.
Madam Uloko, who is excited by Oshimohole’s developmental strides in the state, said: “We are happy that only one man came to rescue us, not only our people, the entire Edo north and Edo state.
“God will bless Oshiomhole. When he was announced as the winner, I was dancing with one leg inside because I could not walk as an old woman.”
“I pray that Oshiomhole will get another big appointment when he leaves as governor. I thank Oshiomhole for what he has done for our people, when you come to our village, Iyamho; you will not recognize the place again, as people continue to tell me because I can no longer see. I have prayed for him and I will continue to pray for him because he made our people proud,” she added.
Asked how she feels at 132 years old, she asserted: “I am very happy that God gave me a long life, but since my son died, I have been praying to God to come and take my life. I cannot remain while my children are dying after getting old.”

 Okwaraji’s family cries out !

The family Supper Eagles ex-player, late Sam Okwaraji, has expressed disgust over government’s failure to immortalize their son since 1989.
The younger brother to the late football hero, Pat Okwaraji, disclosed the feelings of the family in a chat with sports writers yesterday at the kickoff of Sam Okwaraji Memorial Football Competition at Sam Okwaraji Stadium in Orlu, Imo State.
Pat frowned at the way the entire family is treated by the leaders of the country’s sports and football after the footballer collapsed and died while playing for Nigeria against Angola in 1989.
He said that the competition being sponsored by Chief Okechukwu Theodor Eze is a welcome idea for the family as it would go a long way in immortalizing their son.
He commended the sponsor for the competition, which he said is another way of appreciating the enormous contributions of the late soccer star to football development in the country
In his speech marking the official kick off, the sponsor Chief Okechuku Theodor Eze regretted that people prefer to celebrate people with questionable characters rather than role model.
Describing late Okwaraji as a global brand, Eze assured to use the competition as a platform to create opportunities for the young ones to emerge.
He announced that the winner of the competition would go home with N1.5m while the second and third place teams would be rewarded with N1m and N500,000 respectively.

Kanye hired celebrity interior designerSandy Gallin to handpick expensive furniture — which he “spent nearly all of his money” on — for his and Kim’s new home, but the outlet reports that Kanye threw out everything Sandy chose for them! “Kanye walked into the house, decided he hated all the furniture brought in by Gallin, and demanded it be returned to the vendors,” the insider claims. “But they refused to take it back, so he took it all out and threw it into storage. Trader Scalds Neighbour’s Chest Area With Hot Rice
A 36 year-old man, Adebayo Kehinde, on Monday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly pouring hot rice on his neighbour, following an argument on house cleaning.
The accused person, who is a trader, lives at 1, Olusegun Close, Mafoluku, Oshodi, a suburb of Lagos and he is standing trial for assault.
The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Benedict Aigbokhan, told the court that the offence was committed on Oct. 23 at the residence of the accused. Aigbokhan said that an argument occurred between the accused and his neighbour, one Mrs Goodness Orizu, on who was to clean the house.
“The accused poured hot rice on the complainant’s chest and breast, which led to a severe injury,” he said.
The offence contravened Section 170 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011 but the accused pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Mrs O. Olanipekun, granted the accused N100,000 bail with one surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned till Nov. 30 for hearing.

Nollywood actress, Lilian Esoro whose marriage with husband, Ubi Franklin turned one yesterday has been alleged to have walked out of her marriage two months ago.
According to Vanguard Allure:
Lilian Esoro and Ubi Franklin’s marital crisis started shortly after they had their son, Jayden, four months ago.
Misspetite, a popular blogger who claims she has an authoritative insider revealed the celebrities union crashed two months ago.
“I heard from authoritative sources that Lilian had ended the marriage. I felt it was just an issue of adjusting to a new life, which sometimes comes with motherhood.”
Besides, some new mums suffer from postpartum depression which can make them take out their frustration on their spouses. It’s been almost four months and the couple is doing little to quell the speculations.Well, let’s just say Lilian is making it quite obvious.”
The blogger also alleged that Lilian walked out on her marriage immediately their son, Jayden was born and is adamant not to return.
“Their issues reportedly range from infidelity to domestic abuse. If you recall, their relationship has always been rocky from the moment he proposed to her. Lilian rejected the proposal and was literally begged to accept him. He even flew all the way to the USA to win her back. This was because she was not expecting a proposal in such a short time and besides, she was in love with an actor who is now married.
When she realized the actor had moved on to the new lady he is now married to, she heeded to friends advice and accepted Ubi. Her family also cajoled her to marry him as he was quite generous to them.
Even after accepting his proposal, they split once again and he begged her yet again before she finally agreed and got married.
In a year of marriage, they have welcomed a son and this has sparked reports she must have gotten pregnant before their marriage was official,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, at the moment, Lilian has moved out of their house and is finding comfort in her family who are in support of her decision. She also totally ignored the launch of Ubi’s new lounge last week .She did not make reference to it, promote it neither did she attend it.
To crown it all, the mother of one also ignored their wedding anniversary on social media and to pass a message across, she uploaded a photo with her sisters.
After Ubi waited for hours, he shared a photo collage and loving words to her:
“1 year ago I married my lovely wife Lilian who is God Fearing lady and Super mom to our beautiful son “Jayden”. My love for you both knows no boundaries and I will always find this event to be the happiest moment in my life. Through the good times and challenging times, our union would only continue to grow from strength to strength. Love you lots! Ubi. Onise iyanu” he wrote.
Obviously, Ubi still loves his wife and wants her back his life!
