Election: Convicted Terrorist On Fake Voters Register, Says Oshiomhole

By sucregist@ 8.44am

Ahead of today’s governorship election Governor Adams Oshiomhole has alerted the public to the existence of a fake voters’ register in the state, which has the portrait of a convicted terrorist, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, popularly referred to as the “Underwear Bomber.”

Receiving the United States Consul General in Lagos, Mr. F John Bray, Oshiomhole said he was shocked to see the portrait of the “underwear bomber” in the fake register, but with a Benin name. Abdulmutallab was convicted of attempting to detonate explosives hidden in his underwear on board an airline from Amsterdam to Detroit, Michigan, on December 25, 2009.

Governor Oshiomhole, who raised concern about the duplication of the voter’s register by INEC said “the foundation for credible election is the voters register. Once the register is manipulated, then you have problems.

NLC Plans Nationwide Protests Against Sale of Assets | Joins Forces With ASUU to Resist the Move.

Ayuba WabbaThe Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has said it will mobilise Nigerians for nationwide protests to resist the plan by the Federal Government to sell strategic assets under the guise of using the funds to be generated to get the country out of recession,PUNCH reports.
NLC President, Ayuba Wabba said this on Monday while inaugurating a think-tank of the NLC and theAcademic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) that will engage the Federal Government in its move to sell the nation’s assets.
Wabba said that 20 lawyers have volunteered to offer their services to the NLC on the issue.
“While it is important to rescue our country from the current economic recession, sale of our commonwealth and strategic assets is certainly not a move in the right direction, and all Nigerians must have the courage to oppose it.
All the (national) assets are under threat depending on the interest of who is speaking; the NLNG, refineries, all the assets are presently under threat. If we work together, then we can try to defend these assets. It will take the effort of all of us to stop them.
Nobody will buy what is not profitable. That is why people are looking in the direction of the most profitable.
We are sure of ourselves; this is of concern to every citizen. We should not allow the bidding of those few who don’t mean well for the country. On the issue of selling out, we are on the same page, we will do everything possible to try to work together.
We shouldn’t be discouraged because of the fact that we envisage sabotage or an effort to undermine the struggle. In every struggle, there would be moves to sabotage such,” Wabba said.
The NLC President, who said that he would mobilize workers to resist any move by government to sell some of its assets, asked the government to improve on taxation.
According to him, the government can grow the economy if it focuses on taxing the rich and eliminating all forms of tax waivers.
The members of the 10-man NLC’s “Think-Tank on Socio-Economic Issues” are a former President of ASUU, Dr. Dipo Fashina; Prof. Toye Olorode, Dr. Mohammed Aliyu, Dr. Mustapha Usman and Dr. Isaac Nwogugu.
Other members of the committee are Dr. Yemisi BamgboseIssa AremuSonny AtumaDr. Peter Ozo-Eson, and Auwal Mustapha, who is the secretary

Minister Of Finance Says She Does Not Know When Recession Will End !!Lols.

The Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, has declared that she does not know when the economic recession in Nigeria will end.
Her statement is coming barely one week after the Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Godwin Emefiele stated that the country would come out of recession before December.

Emefiele had said, “We are already in the valley, the only direction is to go up the hill and the government is doing everything possible to ensure that we move up the hill. I am optimistic that based on the actions being taken by the monetary and fiscal authorities, the fourth quarter results will show evidence that we have started to move out of recession.

“The worst is over. The Nigerian economy is on the path of recovery and growth. So, please if you are a bystander or sideliner, you are losing; join the train now before it leaves the station.”
The minister, however, said that some of the efforts of the government to boost the economy were yielding positive result.
Speaking with newsmen in Abuja over the weekend, Adeosun said, “I don’t want to predict when we will get out of recession. Let me tell you that we will get into growth and that’s how you get out of recession, because of the stimulus that we are providing.

“And it may take longer than we would like, but we will definitely get out of it. We are already seeing some positive signs in agriculture and solid minerals and with what we are trying to do with other sectors, I am very sure we will get out of it soon.”
The minister explained that despite the recession, lots of foreign investors were still interested in coming to Nigeria.

According to her, the Federal Government had yet to take a final decision on which of the country’s national assets would sold to finance the 2016 budget.
She said, “I think there are a number of assets that are being considered and I don’t think we have said this one or that one. There are some unused assets that are just lying idle, which people have come and suggested that ‘these things you are not using, can we lease them from you for money?’

“Hence, when they lease them from us, the taxes are still going to come to us. So, there are some things the government is sitting on, we don’t have money to do it; it makes sense for me to unlock those things to bring money into the economy at these difficult times so that we can move forward.

“We have not got to the stage of saying it’s this asset, or that. But should we just keep on borrowing or shall we know that things are a lot more difficult than we envisaged and turn on to an alternative strategy, which is looking at some of the underutilised assets and releasing them.”

She added, “We think that the infrastructure challenges that we face are so serious and the kind of money that we need, we can’t borrow. When you have an accumulated deficit, you need to look for the money that will sustain what you are doing for the next three to four years.
“That is what we are doing, having more of a strategic approach so that over time, we will borrow less, and which of course is good.”

When asked what type of sale arrangement the government was considering for the national assets, the minister said it depended on the asset classes.
She said, “It depends on which one. There are some assets which you can lease and others you may need to divest from. The investor will also have to look at the risks and the pricing. Some assets just make sense to just leave them and there are some, which you may just sell but still hold on to the majority stake.
“You can sell to the Nigerian people and list on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. So, there are different kinds of sales.”

When asked if she was disappointed that the Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Nigeria did not reduce the benchmark lending rate to make domestic borrowing attractive as suggested by her, the minister said the government would explore other cheaper sources of funds, particularly from international institutions.

She said, “We are looking at a range of options and one of the biggest issues for us was the cost of borrowing. Of course, the government is the biggest borrower. So, what we have said from the beginning was that we will look for cheaper funds to bring down our cost of borrowing.
“Currently, it is cheaper to borrow internationally than to borrow locally. So, we are working with the Debt Management Office to try and refinance some of the existing local debts into external to get lower interest rates and to structure them over the medium term.

“That will reduce our cost of debt servicing and increase the amount of money available for capital projects, which is really our focus.”

Read What Happened to a Goalkeeper Who Conceded 44 Goals in One Match

SV Vonderort football club ’ s second team in German C
League broke a record on September 12 , 2016 by conceding
44 goals in one football match and the goalkeeper was later
arrested by the police .
Sometimes , a performance on the field is so bad that it ’ s
criminal . That may quite literally be the case for a 25 - year -
old goalkeeper in the lower leagues of Germany .
In a recent league game , SV Vonderort broke an undesirable
record when it lost 44 - 0 to rival PSV Oberhausen.
According to German newspaper , Express , SV Vonderort was
down 35 - 0 at halftime , and at one point , it was only able to
field eight players . PSV Oberhausen was so embarrassed by
its lead that it made the sporting gesture of removing three of
its own players to even up the numbers.
After conceding a goal nearly every two minutes , goalkeeper
Marco Kwiotek may have wanted to completely forget about
the performance after becoming the world record holder in
the history of football for conceding a goal per two minutes in
a match .
However , five days later at a training session , two police cars
arrived at Vonderort’ s training ground in Bottrop (around 30
miles west of Dortmund ). The 25 - year - old keeper was
escorted from the training field by armed officers and brought
to the local police station for
questioning .
The Sun reported that , “ Kwiotek called out to players as he
was led from pitch by cops at the club ’ s base in Bottrop ,
western Germany . They just want to clear some things up .
“ He has not been seen since and police have refused to
comment on why he was taken into custody . ”
Club managing director , Christian Schröer told Express that he
hopes the shot stopper will be available for selection in
Vonderort’ s next game. Hopefully, he won ’ t have to reach
into the net quite so often in that one . (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({})

LEICESTER 2-4 CHELSEA (AET)!

LEICESTER 2-4 CHELSEA (AET):
FABREGAS DOUBLE SEALS COMEBACK TOn
SEND FOXES OUT.
Shinji Okazaki put the champions in command but
a superb comeback saw the Blues progress with
the midfielder scoring twice after the hosts had
been reduced to 10 men.
Chelsea recovered from two goals down to beat Leicester
4-2 at the King Power Stadium thanks to two goals in
extra-time from Cesc Fabregas.
The visitors' defence was highly culpable as Shinji Okazaki
ended a 13-game goal drought with two first-half goals for
the Premier League champions, but two of Antonio
Conte's back four were able to make amends either side
of the interval.
Captain Gary Cahill headed home a Fabregas corner in
first-half stoppage time before Cesar Azpilicueta – who
tried in vain to hack both Okazaki goals off the line –
elevated a pulsating match further with a spectacular long-
range volley in the 49th minute.
Leicester were forced to play the additional half-hour with
10 men after Marcin Wasilewski struck substitute Diego
Costa with a forearm and Chelsea made merry against
reduced numbers as Fabregas struck twice inside the
opening four minutes of extra-time.
The match took place following conflicting reports of
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich's displeasure regarding
last Friday's 2-1 loss to Liverpool, meaning Conte's men
turned in a timely showing of character and class.
Marcos Alonso was selected for his Chelsea debut as both
managers made seven changes and it was the reshuffled
visitors who settled quickest.
Pedro had an early goal chalked off for a marginal offside
and Wasilewski breathed easily when referee Robert
Madley did not punish him for handling inside the box.
There was a similar sense of relief for Cahill when his pass
was intercepted by Okazaki and his subsequent collision
with Ahmed Musa in the penalty area went unpunished.
Nevertheless, Chelsea remained some way below Conte's
famously exacting defensive standards and fell behind
thanks to some dismal defending after 17 minutes.
Azpilicueta chested Musa's right-wing cross back across
his own six-yard box and could not rescue the situation
after Okazaki reacted quicker than a lumbering Asmir
Begovic to head the opener.
Michy Batshuayi should have done better when he nodded
Pedro's delivery wide at the back post and Chelsea's task
became steeper 11 minutes before half-time.
Okazaki took Andy King's lofted pass impressively on his
chest, but was ably assisted by a ball-watching David Luiz
as he scuffed a shot into the turf, over Begovic and in.
A chastening half for Chelsea's defence ended on a high -
Cahill heading over the line, with Luiz charging into Danny
Drinkwater's clearance to make sure.
The equaliser arrived four minutes after the restart and in
spectacular fashion, as Fabregas' cross was only partially
cleared and a sweetly hit volley from Azpilicueta flew into
the top corner from 25 yards.
Batshuayi tried to pick out the same part of Ron-Robert
Zieler's goal midway through the second half, only for the
Germany international to produce a superb flying save.
With his team increasingly camped close to his penalty
area, a long Zieler clearance sent Musa darting through at
the other end, with Begovic turning his chip unconvincingly
behind before King missed a glorious headed chance from
the resulting corner.
A raking pass from Luiz saw Costa force a double save
from Zieler before Wasilewski – already on a booking –
foolishly ensured his early exit.
Costa rifled against the side-netting in stoppage time but
linked smoothly with fellow replacement Eden Hazard, who
ruthlessly exposed a flagging Leicester by backheeling for
Fabregas to score wonderfully in the 92nd minute.
A poor Zieler punch allowed Fabregas to smash a second
to seal the tie and quell talk of early cracks appearing
under Conte.

You Must Never Crave Acceptance From People Who Won’t Give it To You

dreamstime_m_6929767-3Without a doubt, we are usually the products of our childhood experiences which in turn influences our choices. As a grown woman who believes in the practice of self-reflection and analysis, I often find myself wondering why I am the way I am.
There is a joke between some of my closest friends and I, that I tend to kill an ant with a grenade. The strangest thing about that is I often wonder why other people don’t do the same. I am blessed to be married to a man who is the complete opposite of me, who to my shock and utter amazement, would rather ignore the ant than kill it. We couldn’t be more different in the way we handle things.
Back to what I said earlier about self-reflection and analysis, especially in respect of some of, my childhood experiences, I often wonder how they have affected me positively and negatively. Thankfully the gift of writing serves as a major therapeutic exercise for me.
I have written snippets of my family circumstances in bits hereand there. If I am honest, a lot of my personality traits seem to have developed as a result of those experiences. For instance, I grew up knowing that my family was wonky, because of the history of adultery and polygamy and the subsequent rejection of my siblings and I – by my father’s other family. I do believe that this made me develop a strong resistance against rejection or the need to desperately seek acceptance.
For me, rejection in relations to matters of the heart is a big NO NO. I do not see the reason why any self-respecting individual should put themselves in a position where another person has to choose if they will accept them or not. I mean, what if they don’t choose you? Would you plead and grovel in sand, bruising your knees until you are accepted?
No one should give another individual that right.
I would rather be lonely than be rejected. I know that may sound corny, but the way I see it, humans are too fickle. Therefore, no one should put their right of choice in another person’s hands…period.
A person must determine in their mind that they are worth more than a million rubies, and they must carry themselves that way.
Let me share a story, that flickered into my memory trail today and caused me to smile – because I was able to link it up with my inherent resistance of rejection.
In 2003 I was on a flight from Lagos to Benin. I had just returned from my trip to the UK to start my year at the Nigerian law school, Lagos. I was super frustrated by the delay in catching the flight to Benin. I must have waited at the airport for close to three hours. When it was finally time to board the plane, I was exhausted from the long day and made my way slowly to board the aircraft. As I was walking towards the plane, I thought I saw someone that I recognized and immediately adrenaline pumped right into my blood stream. Was she who I thought she was? If she is, what should I say? Should I say anything? Smile or frown? Will she respond? A million what-ifs raced through my mind like a volcanic eruption.
As the adrenaline pumped into my blood stream, I could feel my heart pounding, not out of fear but out of shock. I turned to take a closer look to see if she was indeed the one but she had disappeared. The crew member’s shout of “next” jolted me back into reality as I boarded the plane. As I began to walk down the aisle to my seat, I saw her again, closer this time and boom! I knew for sure that she was the one. I was looking in her direction hoping to catch her gaze. I wasn’t sure if I should say her name or just wait until I was close enough. I could hear my heart beating faster.
Eventually, I was close enough to her, and I blurted out her name with a smile on my face and told her it was me. She stared at me, with a blank look as though she didn’t know who I was. At that moment I knew once again that rejection was about to be served, so I squared my shoulder, ran my hand through my dreadlocks, swayed to the beat of my favorite loud music and sashayed to my seat.
I thought to myself “what nerve she has, who cares, ain’t nobody got time for that.” All through the rest of the flight she completely avoided me. I didn’t want any mid-flight snacks; my stomach was filled with adrenaline instead. When we got to Benin, I noticed that she carefully avoided me. So, I didn’t get to see her as I alighted from the plane. I remember wondering why anyone would have such intense resentment towards another person for over twenty years. Then again if you don’t wear the shoes, you don’t know how tight it pinches.
Now that I think about that incident, it certainly gives more credence to the saying that it takes two people to decide to have a relationship but only one person to forgive. You can never force anyone to accept you. Let’s rephrase that and say: you MUST never crave acceptance from people who will not give it to you. If you do, you damage your self-esteem.
That girl I saw on the plane was my half-sister.
